Knocking in a cricket bat is essential before using it in the nets or in a game – all cricket bats perform better once they have been knocked in. Knocking a bat in provides a hard protective surface to the blade and edges of the bat making it better able to withstand the impact from a cricket ball. This will minimise the risk of breakages and damage to the bat.

Many companies use a knocking in machine but we prefer to do this by hand as every bat is different. This ensures the wood of the bat is compact, so the fibres are as compressed and knitted together as possible.
